The 18th Annual Friends of the Library Author of the Year Contest rules and entry forms are now available to pick up at the library, at Our Town Books bookstore (on the square) and are also available to download, by clicking here!

Hard copies must be delivered to the Jacksonville Public Library by 6 PM, Monday, March 11, 2013.
Martha Maruna
2012 Best Friends Award
Martha Maruna was named the 2012 Friend of the Year by the Martha and MartyFriends of the Jacksonville Public Library. She has volunteered with summer reading for four years helping with story time, crafts and special events. She is the first teenager to win the award. Congratulations Martha!

To join the Friends, pick up an application at the Jacksonville Public Library at 201 W. College Ave.

Activities:

  • Friends Newsletter:  Published twice  a year.
  • Programs: In addition to supporting Library Programs, the Friends have two annual meetings featuring a special speaker or program.

Friends of the Jacksonville Library Bookstore

The Friends organization runs a bookstore in the Peddlers’ Antique & Home Decor Shops located at 1847 South Main Street. Hardbacks sell for $1.00 and Paperbacks for $.50. The store is open Mon.-Sat. from 10-5. The store is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Donations of gently used hardbacks and paperbacks are accepted at the store. Proceeds from bookstore sales benefit the library and its programs.
